How does it purchase process in Portugal?
They often start with a house hunting via a (Dutch-language) purchase broker. It takes stock of your wishes and finds suitable accommodation in Portugal, such as in the Algarve or in cities like Lisbon or Porto. Many Dutch and Belgians buy on the coast! The cost of property in Portugal
Buying and owning a property in Portugal is not particularly expensive, but it is certainly not free either. You have to pay taxes and you have to deal with buyer's costs (which you are not allowed to co-finance, by the way). An important part is the transfer tax which is progressive in Portugal (and thus can range from 1 to as much as 8%). In addition, you will also pay property tax AND you will have to file an income tax return for your rental income or sales proceeds.
