Financing building land with a mortgage
It is not easy to arrange financing on building land or a plot in Spain. We strongly recommend financing the purchase with your own funds in this case.
If you still want to arrange mortgage financing, you can do so only if you are going to build your own house on the plot for maximum 50% of the value (based on valuation / construction estimate).
Mortgage in Spain Direct does not specialise in these applications and therefore cannot assist.
As the licences in Spain for building land are not always clear-cut, we would necessarily suggest that a lawyer/legal aid is taken into consideration to ensure that the plot has the right building conditions as well as the right licences for construction.
You are also responsible for other costs, such as construction insurance and construction cost estimates.
